What if hell is a place of spiritual cleansing, a process of purification, much like the way a dirty needle was cleansed by fire in the past?

Remember the days from the 1960s to the 1980s, when children lined up for vaccinations in schools? Due to limited resources, nurses often reused needles, but before each injection, they would sterilise the needle by passing it through a flame. This burning process was essential to eliminate any viruses, bacteria, or contaminants that could harm the next patient. The fire wasn’t there to destroy the needle but to purify it, making it safe for use.

Now, consider the soul of a spiritual being who has developed toxic habits, negative thoughts, and harmful behaviours. These negative aspects are like contaminants on the needle—dangerous and potentially infectious to others.

In the cosmic order, just as the needle needs to be purified before it can be used again, so too does a soul require cleansing before it can continue its spiritual journey.

In this context, hell can be seen as a process of purification rather than a place of eternal torment. The fire of hell serves a purpose similar to the flame used by the nurse: it burns away the impurities, accumulated negativity, and toxic habits that have taken root in the soul. This painful but necessary process ensures that the soul is cleansed and purified, preparing it for further spiritual development.

Once purified, the soul can be reborn into the physical world, whether as an animal or a human, depending on the karmic path it has forged. Hell, then, is not the end but a critical phase in the journey toward spiritual evolution. It is nature’s way of ensuring that the soul does not carry its contaminants into its next existence, thus preventing harm to itself and others.

This perspective invites us to see hell not merely as a place of judgement or endless suffering but as a transformative process for contaminated souls—a necessary step in the soul’s journey towards enlightenment and purity. It is a reminder that even in the face of suffering, there is hope for renewal and rebirth, as the soul is cleansed and prepared for the next stage of its spiritual path.
